How to Train Your Dragon Book Review

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third is NOT your typical viking hero. Cressida Cowell starts off the twelve book epic with this fantastically funny book. Meet Hiccup, the son of the chief of the clan, and the most un-vikingish viking EVER! He and his classmates (including Fishlegs, Clueless, Dogsbreath the Duhbrain, and Snotlout) each must capture and train their very own dragons without getting roasted. Hiccup ends up picking the least special dragon ever. SO un-special, he doesn't even have any teeth! Now Hiccup must train this unmotivated and annoying dragon to be the best so he can make his father proud. But, when two terrifying dragons appear and threaten Hiccup's clan, he and Toothless, his partially trained dragon must defeat the evil monsters and save their friends. This book has the great message of perseverance and teamwork. For kids over the age of 11 this book might be a little boring, but it's perfect for kids 9-11.
