Peter and the Starcatchers Book Review

You know the story of Peter Pan and Darlings. How they flew off to Neverland and defeated the horrible Captain Hook. But the story of how Peter Pan became Peter Pan was always a mystery. Until now. Ridley Pearson(The Kingdom Keepers, Science Fair) and Dave Barry (Worst School Trip Ever) reveal the story of how a boy named Peter finds a mysterious island and learns to fly. He meets a young girl named Molly Aster, who's father works for the queen. Against her will, Peter discovers a trunk full of glowing yellow dust. Reluctantly, Molly explains that it's star stuff, bits of stars fallen to earth. She shows him that in small quantities, it can make a human fly, but if it's used in large quantities, the holder would have power beyond compare. The catch if it's used to much the person could die. Molly's sworn into a group of Starcatchers, people who are determined to keep the star stuff out of the wrong hands. But, a bloodthirsty pirate called the Black Stache is coming for the treasure. He pursues them to an island where a great battle rages for the star stuff. This is a fun swashbuckling tale with action, adventure, and a touch of magic. It can be a little slow at times even though the back of the book claims it's "fast paced." Otherwise a good read for kids ages 10-13.
