The Eighth Day Book Review

Picture this: You wake up one morning to find that the world around you is completely deserted. There are no more humans, or animals. Everything looks normal except for the fact that THERE IS NO ONE AROUND.  This is exactly what happens when a boy named Jax Aubrey wakes up one morning after his birthday in the book "The Eighth Day." Dianne K. Salerni  created a very interesting and engaging novel that really surprised me. When I first started reading the story, it felt like a very fun, slightly creepy, story about a mysterious day that only the main character Jax seems able to live. This changes quickly, however, as the book morphs into an exciting fantasy adventure about the decedents of Merlin, King Arthur, and The Lady of the Lake battling throughout an extra day formed by wizard magic. I have to say, this book came at me out of nowhere, and I was impressed with every surprising twist, and dangerous turn the story takes. This story is really worth a read, and it is great for kids ages 10-13.
