The Gauntlet Book Review

There is a game called The Gauntlet of Sand and Blood. If you dare enter, you must complete a series of challenges against an evil mastermind. If you win, you and all the game's inhabitants are set free. If you lose, you're trapped in the game. Forever. Nothing can prepare you for the gauntlet. Karuna Riazi writes the story of a young girl named Farah. When she is accidentally given a mysterious board game as a birthday present, she, her best friends, and her little brother are all literally sucked into the game. To escape, Farah and her friends must solve a series of puzzles that span a desert wasteland, all while looking for her missing brother, and fending off an evil genius. Together, Farah and her friends will enter an old graveyard filled with bones, face giant mechanical spiders, explore the dark and dangerous underground tunnels, and brave a rainstorm of blood. This book is full off action and adventure. One of the things that stands out about this story is the rich environments and creatures inside the Gauntlet. While the book is sloppily written at times, it doesn't fall short, delivering a tale that is outlandish, suspenseful, and worth the read. This book is great for kids ages 11-13
