The Seventh Level Book Review

Do you have what it takes to join The Legend? Jodi Feldman tells the story of a boy called Travis, who's always getting into trouble. At his school, a mysterious group called The Legend organize incredible events and fundraisers. Their members are secret, and getting into the group is almost impossible. But, when Travis starts to receive blue envelopes (The Legend's signature color) containing puzzles, he follows the clues and tries to win his way in. But, why are there two different kinds of envelopes, and are these letters really from the legend? And why is his archenemy, the school bully, receiving letters too?  I must admit, I was walking out of the library when I saw this on shelf and I grabbed it as an afterthought. I thought it would be a little babyish, and I thought it would be about video games. Boy, was I wrong. This book is insanely good! It has some great action sequences, a mystery arises, and it makes you want The Legend to visit your school. At one point, one of the puzzles is really easy and the main character just isn't getting it. That part makes you want to shout the answer to him, but you can't because he is in a book. Other than that, this book is fun, awesome, and perfect for kids ages 9-12.
